D is for Dinosaur

We use many different ways to practice writing letters.  This week we got out the whiteboard and let the kids practice writing the letter D.

We also played a fun counting game using donuts that goes:
Down around the corner at the bakery shop
There were 8 little donuts with sugar on top.
Along came _______ all alone.
He/She picked one out and ran on home.
As the children pick off the donuts, we count down.

We got out the watercolor paints for the first time and painted a D with dots.  Everyone loved using these paints.  They were very careful and creative painting each dot a different color.  No two projects were the same.  Of course, half the fun is watching the water turn colors, too!

We talked about dinosaurs on Tuesday and learned that some dinosaurs eat meat and some eat plants.  For snack, we ate what the dinosaurs ate... meat (ham) and plants (broccoli) (and some pretzels).  Delicious!

Here are some pictures of the cute triceratops headband we made.
